Enaid puts its soul into local fundraising projects for young people.

The team at Enaid is committed to supporting local initiatives and projects that help to enhance the lives of young people, and this month marks its busiest fundraising effort to date.
Founding Director Andy Nash has been involved with The Scouts since joining as a Beaver aged six and has been involved with 1st Barry since 2022.

Over the years, he has helped on countless occasions and among his many achievements, he was instrumental in setting up the local Squirrels Drey, which in The Scouts is a local group for young people aged four to five. It’s the youngest section of Scouting, offering a fun and inclusive programme to learn new skills. Dreys are typically made up of up to 24 young people and are led by a team of volunteers, including leaders, assistants, and sometimes parents or carers.

Passionate about supporting young people as they grow and develop in life, Andy and his team are fundraising towards the 2025 summer camp, which will be taking place on the Isle of Wight. 30 young people will be taken to experience activities like kayaking, climbing, hiking, raft building, and learning to cook on open fires. Set to be a life-changing experience for many, Andy is seeking additional support and sponsors to purchase £5k worth of tents to ensure that equipment isn’t a barrier for any young person being able to attend the camp.
To further help with fundraising efforts, Andy and the Enaid team are sponsoring a fundraising fete and family quiz at local school Ysgol Sant Baruc on Saturday 17 May with games galore and a BBQ.

Andy said: “It’s great fun being involved and seeing young people learn new skills, and push themselves outside of their comfort zones for what they may think they’re able to do. At the same time, it’s a lot of hard work for us volunteers to ensure that each young person is given the opportunities they deserve, and to be fully inclusive, we must ensure any barriers are removed.
“If any client, supplier, supporter, and friend of Enaid is able to help us with any equipment, donations, or volunteering, we would be immensely grateful. Fundraising for local initiatives and projects is something we’ve always committed to as a team, and we can’t wait to see 30 young people make new lifelong memories.”
